Espresso machine at Tophouse Inn, South Island, New Zealand
Shiny new espresso machine

Yesterday was our busiest day yet, with guests staying over, dinner bookings and lots of people stopping by in the afternoon. The coffee machine was working continuously!

We think this story in yesterday’s Nelson Mail might have something to do with it: http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/70073979/new-tenant-starts-new-chapter-for-historic-tophouse. All the wonderful locals who’ve been dropping by have helped too — thank you very much for your support.

If you haven’t visited Tophouse Inn before, we’re looking forward to seeing you soon. And if you’re a return visitor, welcome back. Relax with a great coffee or stimulate your senses with an exciting tea blend from local supplier, Pomeroys.

We’re serving delicious, warming meals and offering comfortable beds if you want to linger and explore this beautiful and untouched part of New Zealand.

Come and visit any time!

  1. Nice to have you back cooking ,Elaine !Good luck to you and Alan in your new venture

  2. Had a superb venison hot pot for lunch yesterday, perfect for a cold winter’s day.

  3. We had a family visit to the Tophouse Inn today. We sat by the open fire and enjoyed a fabulous cofffee and one of the best vegetarian lasanga’s I have had in years. The service was friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The kids had a great time playing in the snow. Thank you…we will be back. The perfect way to spent a cold sunny Sunday afternoon.

we have just returned fro a nights stay at the Top House. The cabins are self contained or you can dine in the homestead, in front of huge open fire with a wonderful hearty home cooked meal. We found our hosts Elaine and Alan to be more then helpful and very friendly. We are already planning to go up again in the not too distant future. The surroundings are quiet and beautiful with a good view of snow on the mount. Excellent spot if you just want to unwind and enjoy homely hospitality.
